The Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields (ASMF) have been working together with The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields since 1999, delivering projects to empower people who are or who have been homeless, through music-making. Thursday 28 November will see the culmination of their Autumn Term playing, devising and composing together alongside students and Fellows from the Royal Academy of Music’s Open Academy department, with participants sharing the work they have developed with an invited audience, along with Errol McGlashan and John Rees.
The occasion will be a unique opportunity to gain an insight into this important aspect of the organisations’ work, led by Open Academy Lecturer Dr Jackie Walduck, which has enabled people to flourish through creativity for many years. The evening will also give attendees the opportunity to talk to practitioners and participants and to find out how creative empowerment has affected and changed their lives.
The event begins at 6pm on Thursday 28 November and the performance lasts for about an hour. The event is being held at Stone Nest, 136 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 5EZ.
Please email events@cstm.org.uk if you would like to attend. Please also let us know if you would like to bring a guest and if you have any particular access requirements – unfortunately Stone Nest is not wheelchair accessible. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be served.
We look forward to seeing you on the 28th of November for a Celebration of Creativity with The Academy of St Martin in the Fields and The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields
