Following last November’s very successful Connection with Choral Classics evening, the Friends teamed up once again with the Brandenburg Choral Festival for an evening of information and entertainment on 1 March. As luck would have it, this fell at the time when the so-called ‘Beast from the East’ was rampant, and London was in the grip of bitterly cold weather.
As a result, the Centre was open all 24 hours at that time, and those brave souls who made it to the Connection for the evening’s event found the building a hive of activity.
Those attending for the evening were given a fascinating insight into the normal pattern of daily activity, with senior staff outlining the work of the Outreach Team, the Day Centre and the Night Centre. This was followed by tours of the building led by two Step Up volunteers, Manu and Robert. The conversation with staff and volunteers continued over a meal in the Café in the Crypt, and the evening ended with a beautiful concert of choral music for the evening in St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Thanks particularly to wonderfully generous support from the Brandenburg Choral festival, the evening has already generated over £1,300 towards the work of the Connection.
